SEO services in Wigan
SEO is four distinct jobs that get sold as one word. Here is what each one is and which ones your business is likely to need.
The A-side
The four jobs
Technical work
This is making sure a search engine, and now an AI crawler, can reach every page you care about, render it, and understand what it is. That means crawl paths, internal linking, page speed, correct canonical tags, clean sitemaps and structured data that matches what is actually on the page.
It is unglamorous and it is where most Wigan sites are quietly losing. A page nobody can crawl cannot rank, however well written it is.
The common failures I find are the same ones every time. Products or service pages orphaned with no internal link pointing at them, sitemaps still listing URLs deleted a year ago, and JavaScript that hides the main content from anything that does not execute it.
Content and page structure
Search demand is a fact you can look up, not a thing to guess at. The work is finding the questions your buyers actually type, then making sure one page on your site answers each one properly and is clearly the page for that question.
For a Wigan manufacturer that usually means capability pages, one per process or material, rather than a single vague services page. For a food producer it often means accreditation, provenance and packing format pages. Those are what a buyer filters on.
For a trade it is the opposite. Fewer, stronger pages, each tied to a job type and an area. The searches are short and the competition is other local firms rather than national brands.
Local search
Covered in full on the local SEO page. In short, it is the Google Business Profile, the map pack, and the near me searches that decide who gets called first for anything with a van attached to it.
AI visibility
Covered in full on the AI visibility page. It is the newest of the four and the one almost nobody is doing yet. That is exactly why it is currently cheap to get right.
The B-side
How a month runs
How a retainer month runs
- Week one
- Pull the data. Search Console, analytics, crawl, and a check on how the four main AI assistants currently describe your business, all dated.
- Week two and three
- Ship the fixes, in priority order, highest impact first. Changes go live rather than into a document.
- Week four
- Report what shipped, what moved, what did not, and what is queued next. Plain figures, no dashboard theatre.
The retainer starts at £600 a month FIXED and is priced on the size of the site and how many sectors or service areas are in play. Full reasoning on the pricing page.

Real figures, my own portfolio
Proof from my own portfolio
I have no client case studies to show. I will not invent any. What I can show is search performance from sites I own and run myself, anonymised to the sector.
Sector A, health and wellness SOURCED
Google impressions per month
A site in my own portfolio, not a client engagement. Sector label only, no domain or brand is named. Partial months are flagged.
Results vary by sector, competition and starting position. Nothing here is a forecast for your business. Pulled from Google Search Console on 20 July 2026.
Sector B, EV charging SOURCED
Google clicks per month
A site in my own portfolio, not a client engagement. Sector label only, no domain or brand is named. Partial months are flagged.
Results vary by sector, competition and starting position. Nothing here is a forecast for your business. Pulled from Google Search Console on 20 July 2026.
Neither site is in Wigan and neither is in your sector. They are shown to demonstrate that the method produces measurable movement, not to suggest your numbers would look like these.
Common questions
What does the monthly retainer actually include?
A rolling programme of technical fixes, page and content work, local search maintenance and AI visibility checks, prioritised each month against what your search data shows. You get the shipped changes, not a list of recommendations to hand to someone else.
How long before SEO work shows up in the numbers?
Technical fixes can register within weeks because they change how quickly and cleanly pages are crawled and rendered. Content and authority work is slower, usually several months. It depends on pages being discovered, indexed and then judged useful against everything already ranking.
Do I need a new website first?
Usually no. Most Wigan sites I look at are structurally fine and are simply missing the pages their buyers search for, or are hiding the ones they have behind poor internal linking. A rebuild is a large expense that often fixes none of that.
Will you work with my existing web developer or agency?
Yes. It is often the cheapest arrangement. I write the specification, they implement it on the platform they already know, and I verify the change actually shipped and did what it was supposed to do.
What happens if the work is not producing anything?
The baseline and the dated re-checks exist precisely so that question can be answered with data rather than opinion. If a channel is not moving, I would rather say so and change approach than keep invoicing for a plan that is not working.
Start smaller if you would rather
Most people do not want to commit to a monthly retainer before they know whether anything is wrong. The Sprint is the cheap way to find out.
